Balgarianovinite.com The municipal councils of Kyustendil in Bulgaria and Kriva Palanka in North Macedonia held a meeting in the Bulgarian town on Thursday. The discussion involved the chairs of the two councils, Dimitar Velinov and Mile Trajkovski, and mayors Ognyan Atanasov and Sasko Mitovski.
Velinov said: “We are here to confirm the long-standing friendship between the two municipalities, the goodwill between our two peoples and to show that the border cannot separate us in any way, because we help each other in every way.” Velinov added that the idea of the meeting is to lay the foundations for close cooperation between the two municipalities. He highlighted projects that have been implemented between the two municipalities and gave an example of the new project for bicycle lanes in Kyustendil and Kriva Palanka. “There is close cooperation and mutual assistance between the mayors of the two neighboring municipalities, and this means that our fellow citizens also help each other and will continue to do so,” Velinov pointed out.
Trajkovski commented: “Today we are opening a new chapter in the relations between two neighbouring towns, Kriva Palanka and Kyustendil.” He noted that he is happy about the creation of an initiative for greater closeness between the two municipalities and pointed out that the meeting lays the foundations for a more dynamic process of joint work. “We owe this to our fellow citizens, who expect concrete results, new opportunities, better living conditions. We live in a time when we face personal challenges – economic, environmental and social. Our goal is to overcome them together and find solutions that will benefit citizens on both sides of the border,” Trajkovski emphasized.
“With today’s meeting, we are giving a sign of closeness between the two towns and the two peoples,” said Mayor Mitovski. “Let this moment be a symbol of friendship, respect and joint work between our peoples,” he added. “I believe that this meeting will create bridges between people and open new opportunities for our towns and fellow citizens, with a sincere intention for friendship and progress.”
He added that Thursday’s meeting was not just discussing intentions. “We are talking about a systematic, long-term partnership and a sincere desire for the progress of our fellow citizens. Our two towns are not connected only from a geographical point of view. We are united by cultural threads woven by time, and progress has true value only when it is shared,” Mitovski pointed out and emphasized that the cooperation document to be signed at the meeting is the result of a common and shared vision for the two towns.
“Let this day be proof that when we work with good intentions and friendship, new opportunities open up for all of us. History shows that in difficult times we have known how to lend a hand, help each other and show humanity and solidarity,” Mitovski added, inviting the municipal councillors of Kyustendil and Kriva Palanka to a follow-up meeting.
