Balgarianovinite.com The Romanian National Symphony Orchestra will give a concert as part of the 65th March Music Days international festival in Ruse on Sunday evening. Festival director Iva Chavdarova said that the orchestra has not visited the Danubian city for several years.
The orchestra will perform under the baton of Cristian Mandeal, who will present a special programme to the festival audience that premiered just a day earlier in Bucharest. Soloists Svetlin Rusev on violin and world-class cellist Julian Scheckel will also perform, Chavdarova added. The programme includes The Immersion by Andrei Petrache, Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto for Violin and Cello, and Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8.
Sunday’s accompanying festival programme also features an exhibition by artist, musician, and poet Gergana Popova at the Art Gallery in Ruse, one hour before the start of the concert by the Romanian National Symphony Orchestra. Popova will present her works, created using various painting techniques and unconventional materials, with an emphasis on the symbiosis between music, poetry, and visual art.
The 65th March Music Days opened on March 13. Until March 29 of this year, the festival will feature performances by renowned artists, orchestras, and ensembles from Bulgaria and ten other countries. Some of the international performers are visiting the country for the first time.
March Music Days is one of the oldest and most prestigious festival stages in Bulgaria. It is a festival with a modern programming strategy and high public acclaim. Founded in 1961 and organized by the Municipality of Ruse, every year the music forum transforms the city into a meeting place for elite artists from the global and European music scene.
The music festival is organized by the Municipality of Ruse with the support of the Ministry of Culture, and BTA is among the main media partners.
