Balgarianovinite.com The play Rhinoceros, written by Eugene Ionesco and staged by the Albanian Theatre Skopje, will open the second edition of Stage Without Borders, an international initiative of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia. The performance will take place on March 28 at 7pm, the National Theatre said.
They described Rhinoceros as a warning about the fragility of human individuality and the dangerous appeal of collective consciousness. The drama unfolds as a nightmarish journey through the hypnosis of modern society, a world in which turning into a beast is not a biological process but a psychological and ideological one.
The play is directed by Vasil Vasilev, with sets and costumes by Maria Kuncheva, choreography and lighting by Rosen Mihailov, and music by Milen Apostolov.
The cast includes Shkelqim Islami, Abedin Alimi, Gentiana Ramadani, Visar Etemi, Osman Ahmeti, Vjolca Bekteshi Hamiti, Muzbajdin Camili, Aida Alimemi, Aida Elezi, and Blerim Dardishta.
The Albanian Theatre Skopje, based in the capital of North Macedonia, was founded in 1950. It is a national institution serving as a central pillar of Albanian art and culture in North Macedonia. Through its productions it contributes not only to the development of theatrical potential and contemporary theatre in North Macedonia, but also to a broader interpretation and understanding of the concept of culture. It functions as a space where aesthetic, educational, and wider social layers interweave, helping to build a key vertical in the formation of cultural policies.
