Balgarianovinite.com The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) and Blue M signed a long-term partnership agreement to cover Plovdiv Jazz Fest at BTA’s National Press Club in Plovdiv on Monday. The document was signed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Miroslava Katsarova, Manager of Blue M, the forum’s organizer.
BTA is expanding its circle of partners with another iconic jazz festival – Plovdiv Jazz Fest, organized by Miroslava Katsarova for more than 10 years, Valchev said. “We are signing this agreement at a new stage in the festival’s development. In addition to the autumn edition with which it began, it now also has a summer edition, and as of this year, a spring edition,” Valchev said.
The agreement between BTA and Blue M provides for the exchange of information, including photos, video materials and other original content, as well as overall partnership with the publications of the music forum.
Katsarova thanked for the opportunity for this partnership. She explained that the concept of the festival is embedded in its logo: “We believe jazz is not an elitist form of music and the audience for the festival and for jazz in Bulgaria can continue to expand.” The festival’s logo is a circle with moving boundaries – a symbol of the hope that this community will open up to new and diverse audiences of various interests and ages, Katsarova said. In her view, this is already starting to happen.
“Today we are talking about the first ever spring edition of Plovdiv Jazz Fest. We deeply believe that a festival should pulse throughout the year in order to be significant, influential and transformative for the cultural environment, as well as for the tastes and general cultural awareness of Bulgarians. I believe this has been achieved after so many years of effort,” said Katsarova.
The spring edition is funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, allowing for free concerts and workshops for the first time, as the programme requires no commercial activity. “And it is precisely for this reason that we decided to focus our efforts on young audiences and young people in Bulgaria who want to explore jazz as a means of expression and to improvise,” she added.
