In the life of Maria Bozhanova There is no shortage of dramatic events. She is one of the five children of Martin Bozhanov. She maintained a close relationship with him before he was executed. Within about 45 days, her father was first killed, then she herself became a target, according to her. She was warned by the State Agency for National Securitythat he should be careful because he is at risk. As a source of the danger, Maria Bozhanova points to Gergana Bozhanova – the widow of her father and his ex-partner Nikolay Filipov – Niki the Customs Officer. In his only public appearance, an interview
in front of Nova TV, Maria Bozhanova apparently makes it clear that a serious conflict is brewing between her and Gergana, her father’s last wife. The subject of the dispute is several companies left by the deceased to his wife and five children. Maria Bozhanova revealed to BIRD details about the relationship between her father and Gergana Bozhanova, who is a junior investigating police officer from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime in maternity.

Maria says that Adriana started a relationship with Evgeni Simeonov – Gencho Lyulinski, who is one of the most hated people for Bozhanov. The two have had a conflict since their earliest youth.
“Then he just started a relationship with Gergana again. When he went to her to persuade her to get together, she told him in front of several people, “I will never forget what he did to me a few years ago. For one day he left me without money, without a car, without an apartment, without a job. Such a thing is never forgiven.” Gergana, however, apparently found strength from somewhere and overcame this disappointment and reunited with him. For these years from 2017-2018 until now, she and my father have never had a relationship as a couple in love. There was no love between them. I have told him this too. She knew it very well, too. There the relationship was because of Adriana. She had a very big intolerance for Gergana and my father wanted to repay her for this with Gencho and knew that this was the way. On the other hand, he saw that she (Gergana) was easy to use for other purposes and means.”
In the last months of his life, Bozhanov rarely went home to Gergana, according to Maria, due to the lack of home comfort.
“When this happened to my father, I did not understand from her, my friends called me. My friends called me. I watched a movie at home, I didn’t watch the news. They told me that this thing happened to my father and to turn on the news immediately. I got hysterical and they called her because she is the person who lives with him. I call and roar and ask her if there was a mistake. She said to me in her calmest voice, “Maria, it’s true, it happened, but I can’t talk at the moment, we’ll hear from you tomorrow.”
The next day, Bozhanov’s widow did not answer calls from his daughter. She wrote to her that they would hear from each other when she could. On February 2, three days after the murder, Gergana called her and invited her to her home at Gloria Palace. When Maria entered their house, Gergana told her that they should talk about the inheritance and she would tell her how things would happen. She explained to her that she had to sign some documents and admit her to the companies that are here in Bulgaria. For the one in Greece, she said that she had to sign and transfer her share to her father’s partner – Nikolay Filipov. Maria insists that at least 40 days have passed since her father’s death, but Gergana claims that these things were urgent.
The customs officer was fired and appointed to the state
Gergana asked Maria if she knew who exactly the partner of the late Bozhanov was and warned that Filipov was a very serious person and if he planned to disagree with what he wanted, there would be very serious problems. She explained to her that this is a person who appoints and dismisses high-ranking people in a state. He had many positions in the public and private sectors. Then Gergana told her that she hoped Adriana and Gencho would be able to to make them interesting“, because Nikolay Filipov would “ruin them and sink them“. Maria Bozhanova says that she knew from her father that he, Martin Bozhanov and Nikolay Filipov, were partners and had bought a property in Greece together
, through the company “Hades NM”. This was land on which they had to build. Maria asked for a meeting with Filipov, but Gergana explained to her that it was impossible. To Maria’s great surprise, Filipov did not appear at her father’s funeral.
Even before the conflict over Bozhanov’s assets arose, Maria had some extremely disturbing moments around her father’s death.
“Gergana calls an ambulance, she finds my father. She says that my father went out to get dinner. It’s not true. My father was out all the time. He has had some meetings before. Then he went to dinner and called her to ask her if she wanted dinner from where he was, for her and for the child – for my brother. She had just given birth, not to bother cooking. She most likely told him that she wanted. She claims that my father is delaying too much and she turns on the cameras to see if he came because he was delayed. I thought about this thing for a very long time. In my way of logic, it is much more adequate to call a person if he has been delayed to hear where he is, and not to turn on the cameras to look for him.”
One of the most frequently mentioned as a potential guarantor of the “Notary” is Petyo Petrov – the Euro. However, Maria claims that he was not the subject of conversations between her and her father.
“My father did not talk to me about this man. We discussed only when “The Eight Dwarfs” came out. We have not discussed and he told me that there are problems with him. We have just discussed what the situation is, that what is happening is not O.K. That all the torture that is happening to Yavor Zlatanov is not normal. Here comes another strange thing. When this happened to my father, I asked Gergana if my father was worried. One day before, a few days before this one? Not! He didn’t even carry his guns with him. I haven’t seen my father for 10 years without walking armed. He had permits, he carried a weapon. Since my father did not carry his weapons, he was very calm. However, suddenly, for reasons unknown to me, Gergana began to talk to me “your father was very worried, Pepi the Euro was in Bulgaria, he came to see the murder of your father, he came to see what he did to him. Pepi the Euro did it.”
According to Maria, in the first days after Bozhanov’s murder, his widow constantly changed her theories. Gergana claimed to Maria that Pepi had sent the Euro ” some candles” of the Notary, but his daughter had not heard such a thing from her father.
A day after the murder of the “Notary”, Gergana went to the Capitol car dealership and tried to trade Bozhanov’s cars. They were owned by legal entities and she tried to conclude simulated transactions in order to collect the “top” only for herself. However, the owner kicked her out, says Maria. This happened around 09:30 a.m. on February 1 – a few hours after the execution of her husband. When Maria subsequently asked her about this incident, in front of witnesses – other heirs of the “Notary”, Gergana answered her ” Everything is mine, I decide who gets what. None of you will set foot on a property that is mine. You won’t get anything. “
The conflict of heirs
Maria and Gergana maintained a smooth relationship until about a month after Martin Bozhanov’s death. The relations between the two ladies became aggravated when Gergana asked to hold a general meeting in connection with the property in the ” Clemann” Ltd. and “Design Commerce 2011” Ltd. A curious moment in Martin Bozhanov’s file is his partnership in several companies with the lawyer and former judge Velimir Atanasov

Gergana declared her desire to be a co-owner and to appoint her own person as manager of the legal entities. Maria Bozhanova asked for at least three managers for each of the two companies who could not make decisions separately. In order to protect the interests of all heirs. Gergana, however, did not agree. After all, Maria received an invitation to a general meeting of the owners of shares in the two companies, the day before they took place.
Such an action is in violation of the legal framework. Maria learned that Gergana has already elected managers and expects the other owners to sign only to empower them. Mihov is a blood relative of Martin Bozhanov – the son of his first cousin. In ” Espresso CultureAlexander Mihov is the manager and Bozhanov is the owner. Videos are still available on the network in which Bachev makes coffee on the Metodi Baykushev – Mayor of Blagoevgrad. It is said that the video uploaded to “Espresso Cultura-Specialty Coffee” was filmed by the late Bozhanov.
A curious detail is that in June 2024. Nikolay Filipov – Niki the Customs Officer established the company “Gemika Group” Ltd. and its manager was Alexander Mihov – the one nominated by Gergana Bozhanova to become its manager in the companies of the Notary.
At the general meeting, Gergana Bozhanova made an attempt to “seize” all the company shares of the two companies, says Maria. She tried to register herself as an owner, but Maria Bozhanova attacked her actions in court.
The Euro or the Customs Officer? And where is Taki?
In front of Maria, Bozhanov’s widow claimed that Pepi the Euro was responsible for the execution of the “Notary”. On February 28 or 29, Martin Bozhanov’s mother – Stoyka Petrova – Manners went to the home of his ex-wife Anna, Maria’s mother. She turned to her with much concern. She told her: “Annie, listen to me, Maria has to sign this man (Nikolay Filipov), this man is capable of murder. He is a very serious person. He is capable of murder. Don’t let her make enemies and problems for the sake of just empty money. Tell her to sign.”
It is noteworthy that Stoyka Parvanova Petrova-Maners is a related person in the Commercial Register with her son Martin Bozhanov and Alexander Mihov. On the latter in August 2023, he transferred ” Manners Properties“. With her son and Gergana’s mother, Mariyka Grancharova, they are on the board of “Military Academy – Military Technologies and Facilities“. The mother-in-law of the “Notary” is also related to ““SS Holiday” Ltd. – the legal entity that owns “SS Club“.
In view of the data from the Commercial Register, it can be assumed that Stoyka Parvanova Petrova-Maners was aware of the affairs of her late son. Almost 70 years old, the lady is associated with several companies of the Notary. Maria also receives a warning from another person from Gergana’s entourage. She had said that Maria had to come to her senses, otherwise the consequences for her would be very serious and irreversible. In the course of the “war” for the inheritance of the “Notary”, Maria Bozhanova was summoned to the State Agency for National Security to be warned that she was under imminent threat.
In April 2024, when the conflict with Gergana was already in a “hot phase”, Maria Bozhanova received an invitation with which Nikolay Filipov demanded nearly 80 thousand euros from her and the rest of Martin Bozhanov’s heirs – the Notary.
The invitation does not specify a contract justifying this claim. Filipov claims that their Greek company with the Notary has purchased the property in Greece through a loan from the company ” Agro Fert Group“, which, according to the Commercial Register, is owned by a certain Bilyan Velev. Maria Bozhanova also provides email correspondence between Filipov and a certain Hara Bakali. She is probably his lawyer in Greece or an accountant “who moved things with the land under him and my father”. The correspondence is from February 28, less than a month after the shooting of the “Notary”. Filipov asked her for a general meeting, in which the heirs and owners of the company should be immediately changed. She replies that he needs to contact a lawyer who will give him instructions on what to do to become the sole owner of the land. For Maria, all this is very doubtful.
“Things are arranged in such a way that it seems to be a pre-prepared plan. Selling my father’s cell phones – they were immediately sold. Attempts to sell the cars. It is very strange that I was never summoned to be questioned about the murder of my father (two days after the recording, Maria Bozhanova was summoned and subsequently interrogated at the Sofia Police Department).”
Bozhanov’s daughter was only summoned to the Internal Security (DVS) on her own signal against Gergana, who is still an employee of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. The reason for the signal is threats made in front of witnesses against Maria. A prosecutor’s probe 14101/2024 was opened at the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office on the signal. It is monitored by prosecutor Kalin Bliznakov, who is associated with sad proceedings against Rosen Bosev and the case for the non-murder of Peevski.
Before the investigators, Anna confirmed that her daughter Maria and she had been repeatedly warned by Stoyka Petrova-Maners that they would have problems with Nikolay Filipov. However, Maria’s grandmother told investigators that in her presence Nikolay Filipov and Gergana Bozhanova had never made threats against Maria Bozhanova. This statement by Stoyka Parvanova Petrova-Maners indirectly confirms that the widow of the “Notary” and Filipov apparently spend a lot of time together. Gergana Bozhanova also denies that she threatened Maria, much less with Nikolay Filipov.
The most significant is probably the information of Nikolay Filipov – Niki the Customs Officer, who states that he does not know Maria Bozhanova and never wanted to deal with her. Before the investigators, Filipov stated that Martin Bozhanov had not given any funds for the property in Halkidiki. However, the daughter of “The Notary” and Filipov’s partner claim that Bozhanov invested money in this venture.
Valentin Damyanov Karavalchev – a former friend and partner of Filipov testified that the property in Greece, in his opinion, was a conscientious business venture of the Notary and Niki the Customs Officer (the Quail):
“One gives money and the other gives money. Because cash was arriving, which I knew was from Martin Bozhanov. They arrived at the black box for people or the colleague was carrying them – Nikolay Filipov – the Quail. The hypothesis that Bozhanov did not have money is insane.”
Many believe that Bozhanov and Filipov bought land and decided to build a gated complex in Halkidiki in order to pay Filipov with certain factors in the judiciary after his arrest According to Karavalchev, however, this project was a joint commercial venture of the two. Maria Bozhanova testified that the property in Greece is not the only co-ownership of her father with Filipov.
“I know from my father that he and Nikolay Filipov were very close, that he helped him in such a way that no one else can help him. If you ask me what that means, I don’t know. Those were my father’s words. He also told me that they have a hotel together in Kyustendil and have land in Greece. During the time when the purchase of these things happened, my father shared it with me.”
Valentin Karavalchev is the man who sheds light on this new detail. For a long time he was one of Filipov’s closest associates, but today he claims that he was misled and deceived by the big businessman. Karavalchev says that he, Filipov and Bozhanov bought a hotel ” Strymon Garden” in Kyustendil. However Niki Customs Officer (The quail) asked to transfer the property to a fictitious owner. Kiril Dobrev did not understand that they wanted to buy the hotel. For this reason, Filipov wanted to put his partner, who was also in partnership with Karavalchev, as a “straw man”. So Andrejs Chlaidze, who is a foreign citizen who has taken on the role of an investor. The Latvian appears in the Commercial Register as Andrej and as Andrejs. He is associated as owner or manager with 17 companies, and most of them are directly or indirectly related to Nikolay Filipov. An example in this direction is ” AB Avatari Security” Ltd. Initially, Karavalchev did not know that Bozhanov was also a co-owner in the newly acquired hotel, but Filipov accidentally informed him.
“In 2022, it was about fixing his affairs and then he told me that Marto, the colleague, had included him in the hotel (Strimon) and this was his share. It amounts to 50% of the value of the hotel.”
Valentin Karavalchev met Martin Bozhanov about two years before his death, but before that he “knew him in absentia” because of his partner. The relationship between Martin Bozhanov and Nikolay Filipov dates back to 2020.
“He is the man who is waiting for the “Quail” in front of the arrest. From his phone, “The Quail” calls his wife and everyone he thinks is to say that everything is O.K. and to set the table.”
After his arrest in September 2020, Filipov was released on bail, and the charges against him are looping.
