A total of 11,125 textile items and sports shoes bearing the logos of well-known brands were seized during a customs inspection of a truck entering Bulgaria from Greece at the Kapitan Petko Voivoda border crossing, the press centre of the Customs Agency in Svilengrad announced on Thursday.
The goods were discovered in the cargo compartment of the truck, whose driver is a citizen of the Republic of North Macedonia. He presented documents for the transport of textile products from Turkiye to North Macedonia.
Following a risk analysis, the vehicle was selected for a thorough customs inspection. Among the declared goods, customs officers from the Department of Customs Investigation and Intelligence of the Plovdiv Customs Territorial Directorate found 10,891 textile items, mainly blouses, jackets and trousers, as well as 234 pairs of trainers, all bearing the logos of well-known brands.
The goods have been seized on suspicion of intellectual property rights infringements in accordance with EU regulation. The owners of the brands will be notified and may decide to have the goods destroyed.
