
Balgarianovinite.com On August 10, 1913 (July 28 old style), a Treaty of Peace is signed in Bucharest, ending the Second Balkan War. The war broke out on June 16/29, 1913 between Bulgaria and its former Balkan League allies Serbia, Greece and Montenegro, which were joined by Romania and the Ottoman Empire. Attacked on all sides, the Bulgarian army surrendered. Under the Treaty of Bucharest, Bulgaria lost Southern Dobrudzha to Romania, Vardar Macedonia went to Serbia, Aegean Macedonia with Thessaloniki and Kavala went to Greece, and Pirin Macedonia went to Bulgaria, which obtained a small outlet to the Aegean east of the mouth of the River Mesta. Under the September 16/29, 1913 Treaty of Constantinople between Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire, Bulgaria relinquished Eastern Thrace with Adrianople to Ottoman control with the exception of the Svilengrad, Tsarevo and Malko Tarnovo districts.

July 27 [/August 9]. The peace conference held its last session this morning. The Serbian delegate, Mr [Mihaïlo] Ristitch, read a declaration stating that Serbia reserves the right to approach the [Permanent] Court [of Arbitration] in The Hague in order to pursue the matter of compensation. The Greek delegate, Mr [Elefthérios] Venizelos, made an identical declaration. Thereafter, the conference commenced deliberations on the articles of the treaty. Article V regarding thedemobilization [of the Bulgarian Army] was adopted. Article VI regarding the withdrawal from Bulgarian territory of the troops of the belligerent states says that the evacuation shall begin only after the Bulgarian demobilization. (Press Directorate.
