The Finance Ministry issued EUR 150 million in five-year government bonds at a domestic auction on Monday, the ministry said.
The bonds, part of issue BG2030126119, mature on January 28, 2031, and carry an annual coupon rate of 2.75%. The weighted average annual yield at the auction was 4.02%.
Bids totalled EUR 173.4 million, giving a bid-to-cover ratio of 1.16. The yield spread over comparable German federal bonds was 67 basis points.
The auction was the twelfth domestic debt auction of 2026, bringing total issuance on the domestic market this year to EUR 1.755 billion, Finance Ministry data show. The State also issued EUR 2.5 billion in bonds on international capital markets earlier this year.
The 2026 State Budget Act sets a ceiling of EUR 10.1 billion on new government borrowing, including a loan of up to EUR 3.2617 billion under the EU’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument to strengthen the European defence industry. Government debt is projected to reach EUR 37.7 billion, or 30.1% of GDP, by the end of the year.
Finance Minister Galab Donev told journalists earlier this month that Bulgaria would probably return to international capital markets once more before the end of the year.
