Ivanka Dineva, Director of the Medical Supervision Executive Agency, has been relieved of her post for personal reasons, the Ministry of Health confirmed to BTA on Wednesday. Dineva had been reappointed to the position in June following the dismissal of the agency’s previous director, Dr. Atanas Atanasov.
The decision was part of measures taken by the Ministry to accelerate the agency’s digitalization processes, enhance the efficiency of its oversight activities, and optimize mechanisms for initiating, tracking, and concluding inspections, the Ministry of Health stated at the time.
Dineva held the position for the 2023–2026 term. Key tasks assigned by Minister of Health Katya Ivkova include intensifying international cooperation in the fields of organ donation and transplantation, as well as continuing specific actions initiated in 2025 to facilitate lung transplants for Bulgarian patients through partnerships with leading European transplant centres. Dineva’s appointment aimed to ensure continuity regarding established international contacts and initiatives designed to expand Bulgarian citizens’ access to highly specialized transplant treatment and to foster international cooperation in this field, the Ministry explained.
