Sean “Diddy” Combs apologized for his past actions and pleaded for leniency in a letter to a New York judge just hours ahead of his sentencing that prosecutors argue should carry more than a decade behind bars.

The 55-year-old music mogul faces up to 20 years in prison after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors have urged Judge Arun Subramanian to impose at least 11 years and three months, insisting that Combs’ “serious” crimes mirror other cases where defendants received sentences exceeding ten years.

In a four page letter, which is publicly available, Combs insisted his year in custody since September 2024 has changed him.

“Today, I humbly ask you for another chance — another chance to be a better father, another chance to be a better son, another chance to be a better leader in my community, and another chance to live a better life,” he wrote.

The rapper admitted to “many mistakes” and apologised to his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, whose testimony underpinned one of the convictions.

“The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily,” he said. “I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”

Combs told the court he has been sober for the first time in 25 years, describing the last two years as “the hardest of my life”.

Judge Subramanian will hand down his sentence later on Friday.
