Asen Nenchev was appointed Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) on Thursday, by an order issued by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Alexander Poulev, the Ministry said.
Nenchev succeeds Angel Ivanov, who had been serving as acting executive director.
The newly appointed Executive Director holds a master’s degree in management from Imperial College London and a bachelor’s degree in economics and business from University College London. His master’s dissertation focused on “Foreign Direct Investment and Its Impact on Economic Growth”.
Nenchev has more than 20 years of professional experience in London and Bulgaria. He has held senior management positions and served on management and supervisory boards in both the public and private sectors, working in corporate finance, energy, business transformation and strategic development.
His career includes positions with international financial companies in London, including Merrill Lynch and Société Générale. He has also served as executive director of Sofia Tech Park, where he was responsible for the organisation’s management and development, as well as its strategic priorities. Nenchev has experience in managing and developing strategic investment projects, as well as in finance and investment.
“I am here to represent Bulgaria to the best possible standard around the world and to attract more investment. This is a key priority for the government and a personal objective of mine. I hope that, through joint efforts, we can build on what has been achieved so far and continue to develop Bulgaria as an attractive investment destination,” Nenchev said upon taking office.
IBA is an executive agency under the Ministry of Economy, Investments and Industry, established to attract investment to Bulgaria. The agency assists potential and existing investors in assessing the business environment and implementing projects that contribute to job creation, exports and the transfer of know-how to the economy, according to information published on its website.
