Mihaylov Urges Bulgarians to Vote Without Being Influenced by Opinion Polls 2026

“I urge everyone to vote, each according to their own choice, without being influenced by opinion polls,” presidential candidate Ivelin Mihaylov said after casting his ballot in the village of Neofit Rilski, Varna Region.
Mihaylov said he was voting for a change to the system, so that laws and the Constitution would finally be enforced in Bulgaria and people would know what kind of country they live in and what they can expect from those in power.
Bulgarians should vote if they want to have an influence on their own destiny. God has given us free will, and today we can exercise it, Mihaylov added. He expects there will most likely be a run-off, as voter turnout will not be high enough for a president to be elected in the first round.
Mihaylov also commented on the murder of businessman Slavi Binev, which, in his view, was not connected with the elections but with the replacement of the entire system. “In fact, there has been more than one high-profile murder; there have already been four or five. We are seeing a pattern in the elimination of figures associated with both the previous and the current administration,” Mihaylov said. He added that he expected more victims, arguing that whenever a person or a system has to relinquish power, they fight tooth and nail, even at the cost of human life.
The presidential candidate also said it was telling that the most recent murders had been solved “in 20 minutes”. “In fact, the system in this country is not interested in the truth; instead, certain versions of events have to be promoted. But time will reveal the truth, and we will certainly learn it,” Mihaylov said.
