President Donald Trump admitted having “no idea what they analyzed” when he underwent an MRI during a recent trip to Walter Reed Medical Center.
Last month, Trump casually revealed he underwent magnetic resonance imaging, which the White House has dubiously insisted is “standard” for routine physicals. In a statement about the visit, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt referred to Trump’s exam as his “annual checkup,” which, as some pointed out, is the president’s second this year.
On Friday, the president took questions from reporters aboard Air Force One, where he was asked about the exam.
“Mr President, can you tell us why you needed to get an MRI?” she asked. “I understand that the results were good, but what was it for?”
“Because it’s part of my physical,” he replied. “Getting an MRI is very standard. What? You think I shouldn’t have it? Other people got it.”
“Typically, an MRI–” the reporter said before Trump cut her off.
“The doctor said it was the best result he has ever seen as a doctor,” the president continued. “That’s it.”
Trump went on to call the result “outstanding.” Dissatisfied with the president’s response, the reporter pressed on:
REPORTER: Was it your brain? Or your heart? Or–
TRUMP: I have no idea what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well. And they said that I had as good a result as they’ve ever seen. Now, the other thing I took is I took, as you know, an advanced, very advanced test on mental acuity, because I think a president should have to do that. And as you probably heard, I aced it. I got a perfect score. I got the highest score. I got a perfect score.
