The “Acoustics of Bulgaria” project will be presented on March 27, 2027, in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK), the project’s organizer, singer Stefan Valdobrev, said at a press conference.
Valdobrev said he wants the upcoming concert to have a personal and engaging atmosphere, using the large venue as a space where the band can share its story with the audience. He hopes the album will be a small gift to the beauty of Bulgaria. Valdobrev also plans to write a book about the locations chosen for the recordings and the stories behind them, with a documentary expected at a later stage. Three more songs are expected to be recorded until the concert, he said.Stefan Valdobrev and The Usual Suspects have spent the past year working on “The Acoustics of Bulgaria”, recording outside the studio at archaeological sites that are not only authentic, spiritual, and historical but also somehow connected to his life. Valdobrev said that the recordings are almost over, with a few performances left over the next two months. The musicians from The Usual Suspects also shared their impressions from the project, saying that the experience of visiting so many historical and spiritual sites as deeply rewarding and that they allowed each location to shape the sound, capturing its atmosphere and spirit as well as its acoustics. The “Acoustics of Bulgaria” is a project by Stefan Valdobrev and The Usual Suspects, inspired by the musician’s travels around the country and by the connection between music, history and space. The idea is to record songs at iconic locations across Bulgaria, with the natural acoustics and atmosphere of each place becoming part of the project’s sound.
