Bulgarian Agriculture and Food Minister Plamen Abrovski will attend a meeting of the European Union’s (EU) Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Luxembourg on Monday and Tuesday, the Agriculture and Food Ministry’s press centre said.
During the meeting, the Agriculture Ministers of the Member States will seek to reach a partial general approach on the proposed regulation laying down the conditions for the implementation of Union support for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The meeting will also address issues related to trade in agricultural products.
At the public session, the Agriculture Ministers will seek to agree on a partial negotiating position on the regulation governing the CAP after 2027, the Council of the EU said on its website. The Commission’s proposal aims to provide a simpler and more flexible framework, while seeking to safeguard farmers’ incomes, improve the targeting and fairness of payments, and strengthen generational renewal. At the same time, the proposed rules are intended to support risk management and resilience, and promote a better balance between common rules and incentives relating to climate, the environment and animal welfare.
The Ministers will also discuss agricultural issues in the context of trade, a topic that regularly features on the Agriculture and Fisheries Council’s agenda and was last discussed at the Council meeting in July.
