Balgarianovinite.com The State Commission for the Preventing Corruption in North Macedonia is investigating the property of the Secretary General of the Government in Skopje, Igor Janushev, and after establishing the facts, a decision will be adopted and will be made public, the anti-corruption commission said, quoted on the news website slobodenpecat.mk.
The media in North Macedonia was alerted about Janushev’s assets on Tuesday by Bulgarian media reports according to which he owns a company in Bulgaria, and the subject was taken up by the opposition SDSM, which requested an investigation of the assets declared by Janushev.
“According to publicly available data, the anti-corruption commission has been checking Igor Janushev’s property since 2024, and now they say that they have limited mechanisms for checking property in a foreign country and have not yet decided whether they will request a notarized statement from Janushev or verify the information in another way,” the website said, recalling that the check began after a discrepancy in Janushev’s statement that in 2023 he acquired a 165 sq m apartment in Skopje’s Centre Municipality worth about EUR 325,000, while initially his asset declarations stated that it was a construction plot.
“The government then said that the property was donated by Janushev’s parents, and he wrote on Facebook that there was initially an error in the declaration,” the website said.
In a statement to www.slobodenpecat.mk, the Government claims that, contrary to SDSM’s allegations, Janushev never applied for Bulgarian citizenship, nor does he receive any income from a company in Bulgaria.
“All insinuations to this effect are completely false and represent yet another example of the disinformation policy that SDSM has been pursuing since it was in opposition. But if the issue of companies registered in neighboring countries is already being raised, then we expect you to request a position from SDSM and [SDSM Chair] Venko Filipce on his business entities registered at 12 Gotse Delchev Street in Petrich [Southwestern Bulgaria] and on the nature of their activities, what they do, as well as the sources of income they generate,” the Government said in its response to the publication.
“According to data that can be found in the Bulgarian Central Register, which is open to the public, the name Igor Janushev is on record as one of the owners of the Flugban Trans Company with head office in Kyustendil, Southwestern Bulgaria. The company was registered in 2015 with multiple objects. Apart from Janushev, the company is co-owned by Sasho Apostolovski and Kire Geshoski, who in turn has several companies in Bulgaria,” the website said.
