Balgarianovinite.com The Bansko Jazz Festival continues Monday evening with performances by Morgan James and Blagoev Dixieland Jazztet. The Jazz Fest is on in the southwestern skiing resort of Bansko between July 31 and August 9.
Morgan James is among the most outstanding American vocalists on today’s music scene, according to the festival organizers. A singer, songwriter and actress whose career began on Broadway, James seamlessly moves between jazz, soul, blues, rhythm and blues, and rock. She will take the festival’s main stage in the mountain town at 10:00 p.m. Arriving in Bansko with her full touring band and backing vocalists, she will present a programme blending soul, jazz, blues and classic American songs.
At 8:00 p.m., the main stage on Nikola Vaptsarov Square will welcome Blagoev Dixieland Jazztet, one of the longest-established and best-loved ensembles on Bulgaria’s traditional jazz scene, the organizers said. Led by trumpeter Ventsislav Blagoev, the band, together with a line-up of distinguished instrumentalists, will deliver an authentic sound inspired by Dixieland, swing and early jazz.
The Bansko Jazz Festival offers music throughout the mountain town every day, from the morning until well past midnight. Before noon, young talents perform at the Jazz Alley in front of the Nikola Vaptsarov Museum and in the town park. From 4:30 p.m., audiences can enjoy live performances at the festival’s various Jazz Points across the town.
The evening concert programme for Monday continues at 7:00 p.m. on the World Stage in the town park with saxophonist, composer and bandleader Amit Friedman. After midnight, the festival’s jam sessions begin, featuring Just Jazz Jam alongside musicians who have performed on the main stage.
The Bansko Jazz Festival is organized by the Festivals in Bulgaria Association and the Municipality of Bansko.
