Bulgargaz Proposes 34% Price Hike for Natural Gas in November

State supplier Bulgargaz has proposed a natural gas price of EUR 59.08 per megawatt-hour for November, excluding access and transmission charges, excise duty and VAT. The company has submitted the proposal to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), which has published it on its website.
The proposed price is 34% higher than the current rate for October, approved by the EWRC at EUR 44.09/MWh.
In its application to the EWRC, Bulgargaz said the proposed price is approximately 30% lower than prices on European gas markets.
The November price mix includes quantities supplied under a long-term natural gas supply contract with Azerbaijan, as well as volumes from the LNG terminal near Greece’s Alexandroupolis and from Turkiye. Production from the Chiren underground gas storage facility in Bulgaria is also planned.
The proposed price includes components covering the cost of natural gas at the entry points to the gas transmission networks and the public supply activity. It also includes a component to cover Bulgargaz’s costs of storing gas at the Chiren underground gas storage facility in fulfilment of its obligations under the Emergency Action Plan.
The EWRC is expected to take a final decision on the natural gas price for November at a closed meeting to be held after public consultation.
