During the Europe-Asia Interregional High-Level Tourism Forum in Podgorica on Monday, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov said that Bulgaria was working to establish a fast-track mechanism for implementing tourism investment projects. The mechanism will bring together the relevant institutions and ensure a clearer and more coordinated administrative process for investors.
The event was attended by ministers, representatives of international organizations, and tourism entrepreneurs from Europe and Asia. The forum was also attended by Secretary-General of the UN Tourism, Shaikha Al Nowais.
Dimitrov said that amid today’s global uncertainty, investor confidence depends on clear rules and a long-term direction. To that end, Bulgaria is undertaking reforms to develop tourism and create a favourable investment environment, he added.
He also noted that Bulgaria is actively seeking investments that create quality jobs, foster innovation, and promote regional development.
The discussion also focused on efforts to improve Bulgaria’s transportation connectivity and position the country as a modern, competitive destination.
Dimitrov also presented the Association of Higher Education Institutions, established in September, which is training personnel for the tourism sector. The aim is to improve quality in the sector through cooperation between the academic community, the tourism industry, and the government.
Meetings with the leadership of local universities are also scheduled during the visit to Montenegro as part of plans to expand the network to include European and international partners.
On Tuesday, Dimitrov will participate in a high-level dialogue on tourism investments amid global uncertainty and will hold a bilateral meeting with his Montenegrin counterpart, Simonida Kordic, the Tourism Ministry said.
