Balgarianovinite.com Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova met with Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Muhammad Anis Matta at the Foreign Ministry on Monday as part of his working tour of Europe, the Ministry said in a press release.
Petrova described Indonesia as an important Bulgarian partner in Southeast Asia and stressed the significance of the visit for advancing political dialogue and bilateral cooperation. The two sides agreed that bilateral relations hold considerable potential for further development. They highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties, diversifying bilateral trade and promoting investment.
Logistics and transport connectivity were identified as promising areas for enhanced cooperation, including opportunities offered by Bulgaria’s seaports. Special attention was also given to tourism and cultural cooperation.
Later in the day, Deputy Foreign Minister Hristo Polendakov also met with Muhammad Anis Matta. During their talks, the two sides expressed a shared desire for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Indonesia to serve as a catalyst for further expanding political dialogue and cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
They discussed prospects for developing trade, economic and investment relations, as well as cooperation in halal certification, tourism, labour mobility, culture and education.
The two sides also reviewed bilateral relations in the broader context of EU-Indonesia dialogue, the European Union-ASEAN Strategic Partnership, and other multilateral formats.
During the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta presented a logo designed by the Indonesian side to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The logo combines the image of a lion, a symbol of Bulgaria, and the Garuda bird, featured in Indonesia’s national emblem.
