Bulgaria and Switzerland are exchanging experience on how to strengthen business involvement in dual education, with a focus on the roles of the state, employers and educational institutions in training future specialists, the Education and Science Ministry said.
A Bulgarian delegation led by Deputy Education and Science Minister Tanya Pancheva visited Switzerland under the DOMINO 2 programme, which aims to develop and expand Bulgaria’s dual education system. The delegation also included Deputy Labour and Social Policy Minister Danail Rusev, programme head Polina Zlatarska and representatives of business and employers’ organizations
The Bulgarian representatives visited vocational training centres, employer organizations and GIBB vocational school in Bern, which provides dual education to 7,000 students across 70 professions. At the Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training, they learned about Switzerland’s vocational education governance model and cooperation between the state, schools and businesses.
A key focus of DOMINO 2 is giving employers a more active role in vocational training, including developing curricula and providing early practical training. At CFPS Le Repuis, the delegation examined a model for integrating vulnerable students through vocational education, which will be piloted in Bulgaria’s Sliven and Vidin regions.
The Bulgarian-Swiss programme has a budget of CHF 5.8 million and will run from 2025 to 2029, building on the results of the first project.
