Balgarianovinite.com Caretaker Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski will participate in the regular meetings of the EU Council for Economic and Financial Affairs (ECOFIN) and the Eurogroup, which will take place on March 9 and 10, 2026 in Brussels, Belgium, the Finance Ministry said on Monday.
During the regular Eurogroup meeting, an assessment of Belgium’s budget plan for 2026 is expected to be made. In the inclusive format of the meeting, ministers will review the work plan for digital finance and discuss energy product prices and their impact on the euro area economy, the statement said.
The ECOFIN agenda includes a political debate on the Market Integration Package related to Member States’ efforts to strengthen and modernize the legal framework in the field of capital markets. Ireland’s national fiscal-structural plan for the period 2026-2030 is also expected to be approved.
Among the topics to be discussed will also be the economic and financial consequences of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the statement added.
Bulgaria has been a full member of the Eurogroup since the beginning of 2026 following its adoption of the euro. The first regular Eurogroup meeting for this year, which brings together the finance ministers of euro area countries, was held in mid-January.
