Balgarianovinite.com After the close of polls on April 19, section election commissions (SECs) will be checked to ensure that the live online video broadcast of ballot counting and tally sheet completion has been activated, caretaker Minister of e-Government George Sharkov said during a meeting with President Iliana Iotova and institutions responsible for the early parliamentary elections on April 19.
During the first hour, checks will be conducted every five minutes, and thereafter every ten minutes. This information will be transmitted to the Central Election Commission (CEC) and constituency election commissions, which have direct contact with the SECs, Sharkov explained.
A call center has also been set up, allowing any polling station to request assistance with technical issues, the Minister added.
Regarding voting machines, Sharkov noted that over 100 government experts have been assigned to verify that the code installed on each machine matches the approved version. This process is already underway with the first 130 machines for overseas voting.
He also explained that several “enthusiasts” will monitor the video streams from polling stations using artificial intelligence to detect unusual behavior and report it. Sharkov clarified that this is not a formal Ministry tool and will be further discussed with the CEC.
Finally, a national cyber situational center has been activated, which is mandated by the Cybersecurity Act but has not previously operated continuously. The center will collect information on cyber and hybrid attacks, he added.
