Balgarianovinite.com The highlight of the second day of the 14th National Festival of Sheep Breeders in Bulgaria will be demonstrations by the mounted police unit of the Sofia Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry, the organizers said. For the first time, visitors will have the opportunity to watch live demonstrations of the mounted police’s training routines, including horse drill formations and techniques used in maintaining public order. Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev is also expected to attend the event.
Saturday’s programme will conclude with a concert by Nikolina Chakardakova and the Nevrokopski Ensemble, followed by a fire dance performance and a fire show.
The three-day festival opened near Sts Peter and Paul Monastery, close to Lyaskovets on Friday. Among the official guests attending the opening were President Iliana Iotova, who described the gathering as “a celebration of the Bulgarian spirit.” Addresses were also delivered by Minister of Agriculture and Food Plamen Abrovski, Bulgarian Development Bank Supervisory Board Chair Delyana Ivanova, Lyaskovets Mayor Vasil Hristov, and the organizer of the festival National Sheep and Goat Breeders Association co-chair Simeon Karakolev. An international roundtable discussion on “The New Disease Environment in Small Ruminants” was held in Arbanasi.
This year’s edition of the festival brings together more than 70 artisans, over 60 farmers and producers offering farm-fresh food and beverages, more than 30 exhibitors from the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber, and over 20 companies showcasing agricultural machinery, equipment, feed, and organic and natural products.
The National Festival of Sheep Breeders is organized with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, in partnership with the municipalities of Veliko Tarnovo, Lyaskovets, and Gorna Oryahovitsa.
