Balgarianovinite.com The 42nd edition of the Apollonia Arts Festival, which will be hosted by Sozopol, on the Black Sea, between August 27 and September 6, will be comprised of 70 events, Apollonia Foundation CEO Margarita Dimitrova said in BTA’s national press club in Sofia on Monday. More than 30 of them will be concerts, while 10 films will be screened and 10 plays will be staged. The festival will also feature five exhibitions.
BTA Director General Kiril Valchev noted that BTA and the festival have been partners ever since Apollonia was established in 1984. In 2016, BTA’s Bulgarian service published two articles about the festival, compared to 215 in 2025. The English service published no articles about the festival in 2016 and 31 articles in 2025. In August 2022, BTA published a special issue of LIK magazine dedicated to Apollonia.
The official opening of the festival will feature a performance by Nina Nikolina and the dancers of Ensemble Trakia. The concert programme includes songs from Spain, Turkiye, Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia, with a focus on Bulgarian folk music. The festival will feature musicians living in South Korea, Germany, France and Austria. Among them is the violinist Svetlin Rusev, who will perform with Ludmil Angelov on September 2, when they will play Felix Mendelssohn’s double concerto for violin and piano.
The festival will feature many iconic names from the Bulgarian pop, jazz and rock scenes.
The film screenings begin on August 28 with Stefan Komandarev’s Made in EU. Director Galin Stoev will lead one of the masterclasses during the festival, which will be attended by students and established actors. Violinist Albena Danailova, a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic, will also hold a masterclass with students and schoolchildren. She will perform on August 31 alongside Rumen Tsvetkov and Alexander Somov.
Former BTA director general Panayot Denev, who as a reporter used to cover the festival during its early years, stated: “The world has changed, but the relationship between Apollonia and BTA remains as strong and inspiring as ever.” He said that this connection was particularly special in the festival’s early years, because all the BTA staff who covered the event did so during their annual leave.
Valchev reported that all material relating to Apollonia will be freely available for use by all media outlets, both in Bulgaria and abroad. The 2026 Apollonia Arts Festival will be held with media support from the Bulgarian National Television, Bulgarian National Radio, BTA, Nova TV, Diva magazine, Biograph magazine, Mika Magazine, Dir.bg, Offnews.bg, Chernomorski Far, Vapreki, Rozali.bg, National Geographic and Journal za Zhenata, Obekti.bg, Modernity.bg, Novinite.bg, Peika.bg, Cherga.bg, and Programata.bg. 42nd Apollonia Arts Festival to Feature 70 Events 2026 THE NEWS FROM BULGARIA – NEWS AGENCY 2009-2025 2026-08-03 18:08:00 Latest news World news Country news Most important news latest news most important latest of the day Justice Petar Nizamov Feathers Petar Nizamov- Feathers Justice bg iustitia.bg iustitia iusticia usticia investigation Burgas Bulgaria news news of the last hour news of the day news of today Bulgaria news The news from Bulgaria blitz news top news most important most commented latest news Boyko Borisov news weather coronavirus news news weather facebook youtube facebook instagram news today news of the last minutes news today today news news bg news leading news hot news bg news site for news all news news bg news of the last hour latest latest news bg news of today news today news today news of the last hour latest news today news bg news news 24 hours news vesti bg novini news world bird bg bivol bg bivol trud bg novini latest news today novinite bg news hello bulgaria political party coat of arms delyan peevski scandalous Bulgarian National Television Free Europe Television scandal exclusive live tv live right now tv tv online tv program bg live now tv news online tv online live court Burgas court Burgas district court Burgas court Burgas district court Burgas district court Burgas appellate court Burgas prosecutor Burgas prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev Prosecutor Geshev Tsatsarov Ministry of Internal Affairs Burgas ODMR Burgas ODPR Burgas police Burgas district police Burgas prosecutor Tsatsarov SGS cases Varna court chairman of the SGS court decisions on civil cases decisions on cases Plovdiv court decision of the court decisions cases Varna court criminal cases district district court decisions work in the court SGS chairman of the SGS judges Sofia court post judges Plovdiv court Plovdiv judges Plovdiv Supreme Court Inspectorate Supreme Court Supreme Judicial Council lawyer lawyer criminal cases lawyer civil cases lawyer marriage cases lawyer administrative criminal law criminal process civil law civil process administrative law constitutional law
