Balgarianovinite.com Caretaker Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski has outlined eight key achievements during his second month in office, continuing his practice of reporting on progress since taking the post, the Finance Ministry said in a press release on Monday.
Among the highlights, the budget extension law has been promulgated, enabling the state to carry out all necessary payments smoothly since April 1. Bulgaria has also submitted its request for the fourth tranche of EUR 900 million under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
More than EUR 125 million has been secured for a package of measures aimed at tackling rising fuel prices. These include monthly support of EUR 20 for low-income individuals, assistance for the transport sector, support for farmers, and energy aid for businesses.
Price controls have been tightened, with nearly 1,000 fuel stations across the country inspected by the National Revenue Agency. Additionally, EUR 180 million has been disbursed under the Municipal Investment Programme, covering 494 projects in 179 municipalities, while a further EUR 98 million has been approved for 304 projects in 88 municipalities through the Bulgarian Development Bank.
The ministry also announced the release of information on nearly 7,000 active public procurement procedures in budget organizations, with a total value of EUR 30.7 billion.
Meanwhile, the international credit rating agency Fitch Ratings has reaffirmed Bulgaria’s long-term foreign currency rating at BBB+ with a stable outlook.
Klisurski took office as caretaker finance minister on February 19, succeeding Temenuzhka Petkova. At the time, he outlined three main priorities: securing funding for parliamentary elections, approving amendments to the budget extension law, and ensuring fair distribution of funds allocated to municipalities.
