Bulgaria’s Ministry of Education and Science on Monday unveiled a new platform giving all schools free access to ready-made educational projects, lessons and resources under Intel’s globally recognised programmes “Skills for Innovation” and “Artificial Intelligence for Youth”. The event was held at the National STEM Centre at Sofia Tech Park and was attended by Minister of Education and Science Prof. Georgi Valchev.
“The new platform will make it possible to launch pilot projects, enabling every teacher and youth group leader to create their own content and promote the sensible use of new technologies in education,” Minister Valchev told reporters. This would also help make effective use of the STEM centres established across the country and promote the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the educational process, so that it encourages students’ development rather than simply providing ready-made answers, he added.
“This partnership with Intel is extremely important because it opens up possible avenues for using new technologies in modern education in a sensible and measured way. This new platform is free of charge for teachers and schools. It is an open system that will be further developed over the coming years,” the Minister said.
In his address at the event, Minister Valchev said the platform provided a foundation from which every teacher and student could find an approach suited to their needs. “I hope that in the coming years we will find the much-needed balance so that artificial intelligence can be adapted to the individual needs of every student, each of whom has different areas of difficulty and strengths,” the Education Minister said.
