MRF Leader Peevski Speaks after Failed Parliamentary Sitting 2026

“I cannot understand why Iliana Iotova was misled by all of this and did not come to explain herself. They simply hid her,” Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Delyan Peevski said on Wednesday after MPs twice failed to establish a quorum for an extraordinary parliamentary sitting intended to address the controversy surrounding the pardon of Ognyan Atanasov, known as the “Petrich Escobar.”
“Let her come and explain. She was vice president; perhaps the president made her sign something,” Peevski said.
According to him, “those in power are in a state of complete hysteria.”
“Nothing but violence, nothing but the use of the Interior Ministry, the intelligence services, pressure on mayors and political parties,” Peevski said. “I have been watching the results of opinion polls today, and I can see what they are worried about,” he added.
“People’s incomes – a complete lie. Prices – a complete lie. When there was a special administrator appointed to Lukoil by Rosen Zhelyazkov’s government, fuel prices were half what they are now. Now they are twice as high,” Peevski said.
According to him, incomes are declining, prices are rising, and those in power “are so busy filling their coffers that they cannot do anything for the people.” “Haven’t they filled their coffers enough in six months?” Peevski asked.
Responding to remarks by Prime Minister Rumen Radev, Peevski said: “The oligarchy is concentrated in one place, in the prime minister’s office.”
“I listened with interest as Prime Minister Rumen Radev ordered police operations from his office. I have information that the senior leadership of the Interior Ministry and the State Agency for National Security regularly attend meetings with him,” Peevski said. According to him, all the police operations currently taking place in Belitsa and Sungurlare are being ordered from one place by Rumen Radev.
“He has taken over all functions. I don’t think he knows who he is anymore; everything is mixed up in his head. I watched that malice, that helplessness, that immense fear of yesterday’s protest and the opinion polls,” the MRF leader added.
“I listened to the remarks about the top of the oligarchic pyramid, and I found them very interesting. I can name it, and he should have named it himself. At the top of the oligarchy are Rumen Radev and Nikolay Koprinkov,” Peevski said.
