The parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) has once again submitted a request for the National Assembly to hear Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev, this time together with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Galab Donev and Regional Development Minister Ivan Shishkov, the party said in a press release on Tuesday.
The ministers are expected to answer questions regarding Demerdzhiev’s claims about MRF Chair Delyan Peevski’s flights and an alleged link between companies supplying road guardrails and payments they made for those flights, described as “36 invoices for 36 flights worth EUR 5 million,” according to the statement.
Donev is also expected to address what MRF described as his “magic formula” under which millions were paid to a guardrail company. Shishkov, meanwhile, is expected to answer whether pressure had been exerted on the former head of the state road construction company Avtomagistrali to install guardrails without a contract, and whether this was connected to his subsequent resignation, the press release further said.
In late September, MRF MP Hamid Hamid told reporters that the party had filed a report with the prosecuting magistracy over information concerning the supply and installation of road guardrails, as well as alleged links between an adviser to Prime Minister Rumen Radev and a company described as a monopoly supplier in the sector that provides guardrails for roads in Bulgaria.
