Balgarianovinite.com In remarks at the Investor of the Year 2025 award ceremony on Monday, President Iliana Iotova said that through their activities in Bulgaria investors create and strengthen confidence in Bulgaria as a favorable place for business. The 20th edition of the Investor of the Year 2025 competition, organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (BIA) took place at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel.
“This evening belongs to you, because it is your celebration and the recognition of all of us,” the President told investors in the hall. She thanked them for their courage and efforts, for their entrepreneurship, noting that through their work they create and increase trust in Bulgaria as a good place for business development.
She called on investors to have the ambition to build on what has been achieved, adding that “we will strive to create the conditions for this.”
“We live in difficult times and in an extremely turbulent period,” Iotova added. “In this highly risky and unfavorable environment, you must be sufficiently flexible not only to preserve your investment, but also to be able to look to the future and develop your business.”
According to her, this requires many qualities – ambition, professionalism, insight, intuition, and a good attitude toward the people one works with.
“The most important factor for the development of any economic system is undoubtedly the human capital,” President Iotova added.
She concluded that Bulgaria is one of six EU countries to which the European Commission has entrusted the construction of one of Europe’s gigafactories, and she called for the facility to be built, along with the necessary infrastructure, so that Bulgaria can become a regional leader.
“After learning our lessons the hard way, we in the European family have finally understood that a key priority must be the development of our own European industry,” the head of State said.
The Investor of the Year initiative of the InvestBulgaria Agency recognizes companies and investment projects that, through their activities, contribute to the country’s economic development, the creation of new jobs, the introduction of innovations, and the sustainable growth of the Bulgarian economy.
The ceremony brought together leading representatives of the business community, state institutions, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and partners of the Bulgarian Investment Agency.
This evening, the Agency also marked the 30th anniversary of its establishment.
