Russia launched a massive attack on industrial and port infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa Region on Monday morning, Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Kiper said on Telegram.
“Large-scale fires broke out. Because of the heavy smoke, radiation, chemical and biological protection specialists from the State Emergency Service inspected the area. Measurements showed that no hazardous substances were detected,” Kiper said.
According to him, all fires have since been extinguished and no injuries have been reported.
Emergency services are working to deal with the aftermath of the attack.
Ukraine’s latest official census counted more than 150,000 Bulgarians in Odesa Region, making them its third-largest ethnic group. Around 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians live in Odesa itself. The largest concentrations of Bulgarians are in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
