Balgarianovinite.com The Finance Ministry sold government securities worth EUR 150 million at an auction on Monday, the Ministry said in a press release. The two-year issue is denominated in euro with an annual coupon rate of 2.25%. The weighted average annual yield recorded at the auction was 2.82%.
This is the sixth auction to raise new debt on the domestic market since the beginning of 2026, according to a BTA review of data from the Ministry of Finance. Thus, the new debt incurred this year has risen to EUR 900 million.
The bids submitted on Monday amounted to EUR 240.2 million, corresponding to a bid-to-cover ratio of 1.60. The reported spread relative to comparable German federal bonds is 23 basis points.
Under the Public Finance Act, in the context of a rolling budget, the Council of Ministers may incur public debt to refinance outstanding debt up to the amount of annual repayments on public debt incurred prior to the start of the relevant fiscal year.
In 2025, the Ministry of Finance issued new debt through the sale of government securities and bonds on international markets in the amount of approximately EUR 8.9 billion (BGN 17.4 billion).
