Balgarianovinite.com A large quantity of food products with violations was found during inspections by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) in Haskovo Province, South-Eastern Bulgaria, the agency’s press office reported on Saturday.
According to the statement, an unregistered warehouse in Svilengrad contained non-animal food products, some without labels in Bulgarian, as well as items past their expiration date. Improperly stored animal-origin foods were also discovered, with damaged packaging, missing labels, or labels in foreign languages. The agency noted that the premises have been sealed, and the operator will be issued two administrative violation notices. In the coming days, the unfit food products will be documented and directed for destruction.
The press office also reported that in a refrigerated wholesale warehouse in the village of Brod, Dimitrovgrad Municipality, multiple pallets of frozen food of both animal and non-animal origin were found, even though the facility’s operations were temporarily suspended at the owner’s request. It was not possible to determine when the products arrived at the warehouse. Mandatory self-control documentation was also missing. A company representative received a notice to issue two administrative violation acts.
Additional violations were found in a meat production workshop in the Haskovo village of Knizhovnik, a meat processing plant in Dimitrovgrad, and a dairy processing facility in the Dimitrovgrad village of Krepost.
The agency emphasized that intensive inspections by food safety inspectors continue nationwide, and compliance with registration, labeling, and self-control requirements is crucial to ensure food safety and protect consumer health.
