Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov and American-born Bulgarian literary translator Angela Rodel, recipients of the International Booker Prize, will take part in a literary event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 13, the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York said on its Facebook page.
The two will talk with book writer and reviewer Anderson Tepper at Alphabet City, a venue run by the City of Asylum organization. The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. local time.
The occasion is the release of the US edition of Gospodinov’s short story collection The Man with Many Names: Stories, translated by Rodel and due out on October 13. The book brings together stories written over three decades and explores themes including time, memory and empathy.
Admission is free, with advance registration required. The event will also be streamed online free of charge.
The Consulate General recalled that German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has included Gospodinov among its favourites for the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature.
