Balgarianovinite.com The government is behaving not as a caretaker government, but as one elected with a full majority, said GERB leader Boyko Borissov, who reviewed the construction of the Vetrino–Rupcha section of the Vertical Gas Corridor on Saturday. He emphasized that the cabinet allows itself to dismiss people across the board and appoint party secretaries, associates, and relatives.
“These will be the most unfair elections,” Borissov added, referring to the early parliamentary elections on April 19. According to him, one factor is the appointments, the other is the voting machines. “I expect that this week they will start replacing the teams who can tamper with the machines,” he said. He does not expect any meaningful debate during the election campaign. His opponents, he noted, cannot conduct such a debate because, unlike GERB, they have no record of what they have done for the country.
“We started thinking about the vertical gas corridors, and now work is progressing at full speed,” Borissov commented. According to him, Bulgaria is entirely independent of Russian gas and is the most important player in this market in the region. Borissov also mentioned the contract with BOTASH, stressing that under it Bulgarians pay EUR 600,000 every day. “On this matter, Turkiye holds all the cards,” the GERB leader stated.
Regarding the National Assembly vote on the extended budget, Borissov said he expected at least a “thank you”. “Our MPs gave their support because it is important for society to be calm,” he emphasized.
Borissov highlighted the adoption of new corporate income tax legislation. He said it will provide major opportunities for the economy, industry, and especially the most progressive IT companies. The GERB leader noted that the law allows substantial tax reductions for those engaged in innovation, modernization, and driving the country forward. It will also benefit companies using electric vehicles, as it provides for a 50% annual depreciation allowance for this type of machinery.
