Balgarianovinite.com Students and lecturers from Romania, Lithuania, and Bulgaria are experimenting with lampworking glass techniques at the Faculty of Fine Arts of St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo as part of an international Erasmus+ BIP Intensive Week project. Participants in the program are exploring hot glass processing through flame techniques while examining the relationship between artistic ideas, materials, and technological processes, project coordinator Assistant Professor Dr. Plamen Kondov said.
A key highlight of the initiative is the participation of renowned German glass artist Wilfried Markus, who is leading lectures and practical demonstrations during the workshop week. Markus, who has operated his own artistic glass studio since 1983, is recognized for his work in hot glass and lampworking techniques and has taught at international glass schools and art centers.
The project will conclude with an exhibition and open studio event showcasing the works created during the workshop, giving visitors the opportunity to observe the artistic process and the results of the international collaboration.
According to organizers, the initiative strengthens the faculty’s role as a center for interdisciplinary and international exchange in contemporary visual arts and practice-based education.
