Balgarianovinite.com The A to JazZ Festival continues on Saturday with several events, including an appearance by US singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, the organizers said.
Organizers said A to JazZ is more than a meeting point for world-class music. The festival also champions shared causes and environmental responsibility through a deposit scheme for reusable cups, a drinking-water station, bicycle parking, separate waste collection and recycling areas with educational signage. Its latest move, powering the festival with green energy, will save the city 15 tonnes of carbon emissions, while visitors are being urged to travel to the venue by metro and public transport.
Saturday and Sunday mornings will focus on health, with outdoor fitness sessions and music yoga, followed by A to JazZ Kids music workshops. After the main-stage lights go down, the programme will move indoors to the expanded Night Stage, a new format featuring live concerts followed by jazz improvisations and DJ parties.
Alongside the park programme, the seventh international Music Talks conference will be held at Toplocentrala on July 4 and 5. The forum serves as a platform for debate and the exchange of expertise, bringing together leading professionals from Bulgaria and abroad. Key topics in this anniversary edition include measuring the economic, social and brand impact of festivals, culture as an urban strategy for international visibility, and music exports in less widely spoken languages in the digital age.
Panelists include international and Bulgarian experts such as Mike Duignan of Events & Festivals, Cesar Andion of The Spanish Wave, Gotz Buhler of jazzahead!, Petra Hradilova of Colours of Ostrava, former Thessaloniki deputy mayor Spyros Pengas, economist Petar Ganev and sociologist Boryana Dimitrova.
The conference will also feature a special keynote address by Bridgewater, who will open the panel on jazz as a social language for building sustainable communities. The professional programme will include a practical workshop led by Edita Rogovska-Zak, combining stress-management techniques with the development of a long-term artistic strategy.
