Balgarianovinite.com “He sings about everything we’re ashamed of or don’t want to talk about,” a fan of Till Lindemann told BTA minutes after the German singer’s concert at Arena 8888 Sofia on Monday evening. “With him, almost nothing is literal – it’s all visual art, performance and shock aesthetics,” another witness commented.
Lindemann, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the industrial metal band Rammstein, sang nearly 20 songs. Fish flew from the stage during the performance of “Fish On,” cakes and champagne during “Allesfresser,” and water during “Blut.” The multimedia content illustrating much of the set explained why the show had been announced with an 18-plus age restriction.
The setlist consisted mainly of Zunge, Lindemann’s debut solo album, released in November 2023, along with earlier and later singles. There were also songs from the album Skills in Pills (2015). Lindemann included two hits from the album F&M (2019) as well – “Knebel” and “Platz 1,” the latter sung from inside a large balloon rolling over the audience.
“You never know what’s going to happen. But he plays with the boundaries of taste, shock and symbolism, always within a controlled stage show,” fans added. According to them, Lindemann’s music is simultaneously aggressive, beautiful, dark, energizing and cleansing. The unanimous impression of him is that he is the king of provocation. After every song, the many thousands in Sofia chanted “Lindemann,” and at the end they were rewarded with a “Thank you” in Bulgarian. The concert lasted nearly two hours, including a 10-minute break due to a technical issue.
Bulgaria was part of Lindemann’s European tour, titled Meine Welt (My World), thanks to Fest Team. From December 10 to December 18, the tour continues in Zagreb, Milan, Zurich, Stuttgart and Prague, after which, from December 30 to January 11, it includes seven stops in Asia. From January 15 to January 22, Lindemann and company will perform in five of the largest cities in Australia.
