Balgarianovinite.com President Iliana Iotova said that after the elections, the more difficult phase begins – institutions must meet citizens’ expectations. Iotova spoke on Tuesday during consultations with Continue the Change on forming a government.
“The elections are over, and from here on comes the harder part – all of you and all of us as institutions must respond to the high expectations of Bulgarian citizens,” Iotova said.
She stressed that the state budget cannot be delayed, noting that Bulgaria is in an unusual situation of operating with two extended budgets at once, which has posed serious challenges for the caretaker government. Despite the difficult conditions, she said the outgoing cabinet has left a relatively solid foundation.
Iotova expressed hope that work on the 2026 state budget would be carried out alongside preparations for the 2027 budget, highlighting the need for consistency and long-term planning. She underlined that urgent answers are needed on rising prices, income policies and immediate measures to reassure citizens.
The President also said that Continue the Change should address key commitments from its election campaign and its declaration at the first sitting of the 52nd National Assembly. She called for swift action to end the practice of institutions operating with expired mandates and acting officials, and to begin long-expected reforms in the judicial system.
