Balgarianovinite.com Speaking at a joint press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, following their meeting in Brussels on Thursday, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said that Bulgaria finally has a government with a clear agenda: to stabilize the budget, provide conditions for sustainable economic growth, strengthen the rule of law and root out corruption.
Radev thanked von der Leyen for the fruitful conversation held at a critical moment for Europe. “In a critical moment when our union needs clear vision and stability, needs a robust investment in competitiveness, instability and security, along with strong cohesion and agricultural policy, to guarantee the most important, the security and wellbeing of our citizens. This meeting comes also in a very interesting time for Bulgaria, as Bulgaria has been always a strong contributor to the European security by playing a key role in the European security architecture, bringing industrial capacity and digital modernization. My country plays a pivotal role for providing stability, security and diversification in energy supply for the entire Southeast European region. And we play a key role in enhancing connectivity in all domains,” Radev said.
Radev added that von der Leyen is well aware of Bulgaria’s potential since she has been to the country many times, but that “the past 5 years of political instability and challenges in government and rule of law didn’t allow us to fully unlock this potential, but now the time has been changing. Finally, we have a stable, reform-oriented, energetic government with a clear agenda. To stabilize the budget and to provide conditions for stable and sustainable economic growth, to strengthen the rule of law and root out corruption. And to be responsible in providing better security and defence capabilities to our region. That’s why today’s meeting was very important to share our priorities and to shape our cooperation in the future.”
Radev said that for Bulgaria the Recovery and Resilience Plan is not just a funding source. “We regard this plan as a strong, robust instrument for delivering substantial reforms.” For the past 3 years, the country has been lagging behind, but the new government has the strong ambition to catch up and meet all the deadlines till the end of August this year, Radev added.
The most important amendments to the acts for the establishing of a new anti-corruption commission and the oversight of the prosecutor general have been adopted by Parliament at first reading, Radev said, adding “the money you have just declared, the first portion of money is unlocked, so this is a huge contribution for the budget of Bulgaria, to the Bulgarian people.”
The Bulgarian energy system has a key role in providing stability in Southeast Europe energy system as a whole, Radev further said. “I do believe that the RRP and just transition plan will contribute for smooth transition and transformation for building new industrial zones, which is our goal, and for opening new working places, thus bringing more confidence to our common efforts to make our Union stronger, stable, and working for its citizens,” he added.
Radev also spoke about the Multiannual Financial Framework, saying that “together through the dialogue and discussions in front of us, we’ll find a balance and fair solutions, so to invest robustly in the defence and security and competitiveness, but not to forget that cohesion and agricultural policy are key pillars of our unity.”
Speaking about European defence, Radev assured von der Leyen that “we will take full advantage of the SAFE instrument as a clear and reliable mechanism to increase our defence capabilities. This is our own responsibility to take care of our own security and the security of Europe as a whole.”
Radev said that together with the Commission, the new Bulgarian government is looking forward to being part of the “mutual efforts to make our union stronger, safer and reliable place for our citizens.” Prime Minister Radev: New Government Has Clear Agenda, Strengthen Rule of Law and Root Out Corruption 2026 THE NEWS FROM BULGARIA – NEWS AGENCY 2009-2025 2026-05-28 16:19:33 Latest news World news Country news Most important news latest news most important latest of the day Justice Petar Nizamov Feathers Petar Nizamov- Feathers Justice bg iustitia.bg iustitia iusticia usticia investigation Burgas Bulgaria news news of the last hour news of the day news of today Bulgaria news The news from Bulgaria blitz news top news most important most commented latest news Boyko Borisov news weather coronavirus news news weather facebook youtube facebook instagram news today news of the last minutes news today today news news bg news leading news hot news bg news site for news all news news bg news of the last hour latest latest news bg news of today news today news today news of the last hour latest news today news bg news news 24 hours news vesti bg novini news world bird bg bivol bg bivol trud bg novini latest news today novinite bg news hello bulgaria political party coat of arms delyan peevski scandalous Bulgarian National Television Free Europe Television scandal exclusive live tv live right now tv tv online tv program bg live now tv news online tv online live court Burgas court Burgas district court Burgas court Burgas district court Burgas district court Burgas appellate court Burgas prosecutor Burgas prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Burgas district prosecutor’s office Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev Prosecutor Geshev Tsatsarov Ministry of Internal Affairs Burgas ODMR Burgas ODPR Burgas police Burgas district police Burgas prosecutor Tsatsarov SGS cases Varna court chairman of the SGS court decisions on civil cases decisions on cases Plovdiv court decision of the court decisions cases Varna court criminal cases district district court decisions work in the court SGS chairman of the SGS judges Sofia court post judges Plovdiv court Plovdiv judges Plovdiv Supreme Court Inspectorate Supreme Court Supreme Judicial Council lawyer lawyer criminal cases lawyer civil cases lawyer marriage cases lawyer administrative criminal law criminal process civil law civil process administrative law constitutional law
