Prime Minister: Still No Evidence as to Origin of Drones in Black Sea Attacks Despite Assumptions 2026

“Logical assumptions point towards one country, but we have no evidence to say it with certainty,” Prime Minister Rumen Radev told journalists in response to a question about whether the origin of the drones responsible for the attacks on merchant vessels in the Black Sea had been established.
The Prime Minister attended the official graduation ceremony for students of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of Plovdiv.
He said that no drone wreckage had been found so far. Radev commended Bulgarian military personnel for their courage and high level of professionalism, noting that they had carried out a thorough inspection on board the vessel specifically to search for debris.
Asked about his meeting with Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister said that the meeting had taken place at the guest’s request, as reported by the Council of Ministers.
Radev also said that efforts to restore peace in Ukraine deserve support. Ending the hostilities is in the vital interest not only of the warring parties but also of Europe as a whole, which continue to pay a high social and economic price, he noted.
According to the Prime Minister, diplomacy must be allowed to realize its full potential, and every available channel for communication and dialogue must be used.
