Balgarianovinite.com Pension and benefit spending reached nearly EUR 8.6 billion through July 2026, against EUR 4.8 billion in revenue, the National Social Security Institute said on Monday.
Total revenue under the consolidated Public Social Insurance budget reached EUR 4,806.2 million through July 2026, representing 56.4% of the annual plan. Compared with the same period in 2025, revenue rose by EUR 439.4 million, or 10.1%.
Total expenditure under the consolidated Public Social Insurance budget stood at EUR 8,596.9 million through July 2026, or 56.3% of the annual plan. Compared with the same period in 2025, expenditure rose by EUR 744.1 million, or 9.5%.
The number of pensioners in July 2026 was 2,069,181, up 11,784, or 0.6%, from July 2025. The average monthly pension was EUR 560.13 per pensioner. This was EUR 41.06, or 7.9%, higher than in July 2025.
Expenditure on cash benefits and allowances under the Social Insurance Code totalled EUR 883.9 million through July 2026, or 53.5% of the annual plan. This was EUR 49.2 million, or 5.9%, more than in the same period in 2025.
Net transfers under the consolidated Public Social Insurance budget totalled EUR 3,788.0 million through July 2026.
