Balgarianovinite.com Regional journalists and regional news are extremely important for the entire media sector, but even more so for the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), said the Director General of the public television, Milena Milotinova, at the discussion “The Future of Regional News”, jointly organized by BTA and the Council for Electronic Media (CEM) at the agency’s National Press Club in Sofia on Thursday.
“We include regional news in all our shows and in the news – both in “Around the World and at Home” and in the other shows. It is no coincidence that BNT 1 has a specialized show that journalist Mariana Vekilska hosts on a daily basis, because regional news, in addition to being important, is also very numerous, so that is precisely why we have done this show years ago and are continuing it now,” said Milotinova.
She pointed out that the BNT management thinks of the regional television centres and the correspondent stations as an integral part of the Bulgarian National Television itself and as colleagues who have a sense of journalism, and a sense of technological innovation.
“We will do so within this mandate to equalize the technological capabilities of BNT – Sofia with those of the regional television centers. This is a very ambitious task, but we will do our best to achieve it, so that our colleagues can work with the means with which we also work in Sofia, and I believe that they deserve it. I believe that the regions of Bulgaria deserve it, that is why I have included it in my concept and that is why we have included it in our management program within this mandate,” Milotinova said.
BTA has invited all regional journalists, regardless of their media outlet, to take part in the event. More than 100 regional journalists from the Agency’s 32 national press clubs outside Sofia have confirmed their participation, not including its nearly 70 correspondents. Invitations have also been sent to BTA’s partners from the Union of Bulgarian National Electronic Media (UBNEM), including BNT, BNR, bTV, Nova TV and Darik Radio, as well as to representatives of the legislative and executive branches. This includes all members of the parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media, the heads of the press services of the President’s Office, the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers, the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, and universities that train future journalists.
