Balgarianovinite.com The Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) admitted Marinela Toteva and Todor Deyanov to the election of SJC members from the prosecutors’ quota. The decision on the candidates’ eligibility was taken unanimously and without debate at the Chamber’s meeting on Wednesday.
Toteva is a prosecutor at the Supreme Cassation Prosecution Office. She was nominated by 20 prosecutors from the Supreme Cassation Prosecution Office and the Sofia District Prosecution Office. The nomination states that she meets the statutory requirements for election as an SJC member, highlighting her 30 years of legal experience in the prosecution service and her extensive practical experience. The nomination also says that Toteva is distinguished by her impeccable reputation, integrity and independence in performing her duties, has excellent legal knowledge and the ability to conduct in-depth analysis of case law and legislation, as well as strategic planning and balanced decision-making skills.
Deyanov is Deputy Appellate Prosecutor at the Plovdiv Appellate Prosecution Office. He was nominated by colleagues who cited their personal impressions “in the course of their direct and immediate work together” with him in recent years, as well as his professional background. The prosecutors expressed confidence that Deyanov possesses the required personal, professional and ethical qualities to stand for election as a member of the Prosecutorial College of the SJC from the prosecutors’ professional quota.
