Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev called on the government Thursday to include around 12.5 km of cycling infrastructure in the planned construction of the Sofia Ring Road, Sofia Municipality said.
Sofia Municipality has submitted specific proposals to the Road Infrastructure Agency, urging that the bike infrastructure be incorporated at the design stage of the project. The proposal, based on expert analysis and residents’ feedback, covers 13 key intersections and aims to ensure safe, continuous pedestrian and bicycle connections between neighbourhoods on both sides of the road. It also includes links to planned future cycling routes.
Terziev also said the first metro line is expected to be extended under Tsaritsa Yoanna Boulevard in Lyulin towards the Ring Road.
