Youth and Sports Minister Encho Keryazov met with Badminton World Federation Vice-President Viktoria Tsvetanova and Bulgarian Badminton Federation President Volodya Zlatev on Thursday.
The meeting covered a range of issues related to the development of the sport in various areas. Particular emphasis was placed on the World Federation’s readiness to establish Bulgaria as an international training centre for young badminton talents.
The participants also discussed upcoming international events, including the Bulgarian Open Championship and the group stage of the European Team Championships.
Keryazov highlighted that, following Bulgaria’s historic European women’s team title and the successes of sisters Stefani Stoeva and Gabriela Stoeva, Kaloyana Nalbantova and the younger generation of players, the Bulgarian Badminton Federation continues to make significant progress. He pointed to the fact that Bulgaria has secured both of the two available qualification spots for the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, as further evidence of this development.
Tsvetanova assured the Youth and Sports Minister that Bulgaria would continue to receive support and encouragement as a leading badminton nation internationally and as a model for the sport’s development.
At the end of the meeting, Tsvetanova presented Keryazov with a special plaque and thanked him for the support provided by the Youth and Sports Ministry.
