British dance and hip-hop pioneers Stereo MC’s will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their seminal album Connected with a concert at Vidas Art Arena on May 26, 2027, Fest Team announced.
The icons of the 1990s are embarking on an extensive European tour, with Sofia among the stops.
The group emerged from London’s underground music scene in the late 1980s. At the time, Stereo MC’s recorded their tracks in a South London apartment using a four-track tape recorder. From their earliest days, they helped transform British club culture with their distinctive sound, blending hip-hop, dub, powerful lyrics, house, funk and electronic beats.
Since their formation, the group have released seven studio albums, but Connected remains their most iconic to this day. Their third studio album, released in November 1992, went multiplatinum. Released by Island Records, Connected became a global phenomenon, reaching No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and earning the group two Brit Awards. The album also spawned enduring dance hits that remain popular in Bulgaria, including Step It Up, Ground Level, Creation and the title track, Connected.
The upcoming tour will feature Stereo MC’s original lineup, including frontman and producer Rob B, DJ and producer Nick Hallam, vocalist Cath Coffey, and drummer and percussionist Tansay Omar.
