Balgarianovinite.com Bulgaria’s 2026 summer tourism season is progressing at the same pace as in 2025, with the slowdown recorded at the beginning of the summer now fully overcome, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov told journalists in the Black Sea village of Lozenets, Tsarevo Municipality, on Saturday.
Dimitrov said data from the Unified Tourist Information System show that the initial decline has been offset.
“If we continue the good cooperation with the tourism industry and local communities, and if weather conditions remain favourable in September, I expect we could even record growth by the end of the season,” he said.
He added that resorts are fully occupied and that the initial shortfall of about 200,000 tourists has now been compensated for.
Dimitrov said the Ministry would continue actively promoting Bulgaria as a tourist destination, with well-known public figures to be included in the country’s advertising campaign. According to him, favourable weather conditions and strong tourism demand across Europe create good prospects for a successful summer season.
The Tourism Ministry will also open regional offices in the Golden Sands and Sunny Beach resorts to serve the northern and southern Black Sea coast, respectively. Dimitrov said the offices, which will operate from next week until the end of the summer season, are intended to speed up communication with businesses and tourists and ensure a faster response to requests for assistance. Similar offices are planned for Bulgaria’s winter resorts.
The Ministry is also launching a new initiative, Celebrate Bulgaria, to promote festivals, traditions and customs in all 28 administrative regions. Promotional materials will be produced and translated into several languages to showcase Bulgaria’s cultural diversity and strengthen its image as a year-round tourist destination, Dimitrov said.
Dimitrov is visiting Lozenets for the Art Potok festival. During the event, Travel & Lifestyle magazine will present its 2026 ranking of the best restaurants along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The awarded establishments have been evaluated on criteria including the quality of cuisine and service, atmosphere, and the overall gastronomic experience. According to the organizers, the initiative aims to encourage high standards in the restaurant sector and strengthen the Bulgarian Black Sea coast’s position as an attractive culinary destination.
