The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has received no official notification concerning the reported removal of satirical Facebook pages, it said in a statement provided to BTA on Monday.
CRC said it supervises providers of intermediary services, including online platforms, and coordinates information exchange with European institutions and other national authorities. It does not regulate social media content but is authorized to receive and process duly submitted notices of alleged violations of platforms’ obligations under the Digital Services Act (DSA).
CRC said online platforms should enforce their election-protection policies on election day, including measures to counter disinformation, unauthorized political advertising and other threats to electoral integrity. If illegal material or a breach of the law is suspected, competent institutions or affected individuals may notify CRC, providing the relevant URLs, legal grounds for the alleged violation, supporting factual and legal arguments, and details of the platform’s response.
CRC stressed that it had received no complaint about the reported removal of satirical Facebook pages. It said it would exercise its DSA powers if a properly documented notice was submitted. CRC has also contacted Meta for information and is monitoring developments.
Prime Minister Rumen Radev denied any government involvement in the removals, speaking to reporters after voting in Sunday’s presidential election. Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev also rejected opposition allegations that the Interior Ministry was responsible.
On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the Interior Ministry said that the Cybercrime Directorate of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime had no involvement in the deactivation of several satirical Facebook pages. The affected pages included “Kopeykin”, “Puylo” and “BG Elves”.
