President Donald Trump was roasted by the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update crew for losing out on the Nobel Peace Prize.
In a scalding edition of Weekend Update, Colin Jost and Michael Che were unsparing in their take on the president’s Nobel Prize quest falling short once again.
“He’s genuinely angry that he didn’t win the Peace Prize,” Jost said. “Trump kidnapped Venezuela’s president. Then he did so much war that we’re running out of missiles. And he still thought, ‘This is my year.’ It’s truly like if I thought I might win an Oscar for Tom & Jerry.”
Che went on to joke about how Trump might react to South African jurist Navi Pillay winning the prize the president has long coveted.
“Navi Pillay, who learned she won the Nobel Peace Prize at a conference in Germany, joked with the crowd that if they clap a little more, she may share this prize with Trump,” Che said. “Which is a harmless little joke that might make Trump bomb whatever country he thinks she’s from.”
Jost went on to hit Trump over concerns about a potential plague in Russia.
“President Trump says the U.S. does not think the death of a Russian laboratory worker from a suspected case of plague is the result of a bioweapon,” Jost said. But Trump also stressed that it’s important to understand that he didn’t really look into it, and he doesn’t care what happens.”
And Che wrapped up the political portion of Weekend Update with a one-liner jabbing at the newly-engaged FBI Director Kash Patel.
“Patel announced that he is engaged!” Che said — pausing before delivering the punchline. “In a staring contest with the tip of his nose.”
